How to make Italian pasta salad Start by boiling about 6 quarts of water. Add a little bit of salt and 6 ounces of shell pasta to the boiling water. You can also use other types of pasta if you would like something different. This will serve about 3-5 adults. Boil the shelled pasta for about 10-12 minutes stirring it occasionally. Use a zester to prepare a tablespoon of lemon zest. Dice up about 4 ounces of black olives by slicing them and cutting them into smaller pieces. Next dice up one red pepper. Put the pasta into a bowl and rinse it in cold water. If you want to cool the pasta faster you can add a little bit of ice to the bowl while you are rinsing it. If it stays hot the pasta will continue to cook and you don't want over cooked pasta. Next you will want to make the mix that goes on the pasta. Take a bowl and put some olive oil, Italian dressing, red roasted pepper olive oil, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of minced garlic in it. Use a whisk and mix it up really well. Now add the lemon zest, diced olives, and red peppers to the bowl. Mix them in with a slotted spoon. Then add some pepper and salt. Now you are ready to add the pasta to the mix. If you want some extra zest add some onion and garlic powder to the pasta salad. Stir the pasta salad up and put it into a serving bowl and it is ready to serve.
